(1) A powerful synthetic opiate used to control severe pain and as an anesthetic in surgery. It is 100 times stronger than morphine; often abused in the medical community. (2) A street drug called China white, used as a substitute for heroin, that uses the same basic formulation as pharmaceutical fentanyl.
