A diagnostic category in DSM-IV-TR under alcohol-related disorders that describes a group of psychiatric symptoms caused by alcohol intoxication or alcohol withdrawal, including alcohol-induced withdrawal, amnesia, psychotic disorder, and mood disorders. This will change in 2012 when the DSM-V is released.
