Salvia divinorum, a traditional and largely legal hallucinogen, has been in the news lately, first with teen pop star Miley Cyrus, and then linked to the alleged shooter in Tucson. We discuss this potent drug, and also the continuing abuse of drug research by street chemists creating designer drugs, which can have dangerous side effects.
