A “booming addition” as the reporter in Huffington Post describes it. For those of us in our 50s and 60s, the complexity and frustrations of life in these modern times – too young to be old, not old enough for Medicare, caring for elderly parents, or under-employed adult children often with their own families, and still working to try to make ends meet – is causing many baby-boomers to have more issues with addiction and substance abuse then perhaps earlier in their life, and increasingly to be seeking help for the ensuing complications. Raised in the halcyon days of drug exploration – turn in turn on drop out – what for many has perhaps been a life of moderate drug use is now causing more and larger issues. We explore the issue, ways to cope, and the implications on this week’s podcast.
